Water, Fire & Mold Damage Restoration in Signal Hill
Signal Hill is a small enclave in the south of Los Angeles County completely surrounded by the city of Long Beach. It was formerly known as Los Cerritos (“little hills” in Spanish) but received its current name because it served as the signal point of the Coast Survey in 1889. Signal Hill is 365 feet higher than the surrounding area of Long Beach. Before any non-indigenous settlers ever reached the area, the Tongva Native Americans used the hill to light signal fires that could be seen up to 25 miles away. The area changed forever in 1921, when massive oil reserves were discovered beneath the hill and was in turn incorporated into the Long Beach Oil Field, one of the most productive oil fields in the world. Though many of the oil derricks have been removed over the years, Signal Hill continues to produce oil to this day and is home to around 12,000 residents.
